Privacy policy
Days IRL is made by Amplifye (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Days IRL app on iPhone, Android and the web at app.daysirl.com, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read. If anything is unclear, email privacy@daysirl.com.
1. What Days IRL is
Days IRL helps you plan trips with friends: keep a wishlist of places, find windows in your calendar, draft an itinerary, split costs, save toward a trip, book flights and stays, and keep a record of where you went. Almost everything we collect exists to do one of those things for you.
2. What we collect
Your account
Name, email address and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive the name and email those services share with us; Apple lets you hide your email, and we honour that. A user ID we generate, and the device token needed to send you push notifications.
Where you live and how you travel
Your home city, home airport and country, which we use to price trips and to write plans in your units. Travel preferences: interests, pace, budget range, stay and flight preferences, dietary needs, and the months you prefer to travel. Your time-off policy and leave balance if you enter them, and any screenshot of a holiday calendar or leave balance you choose to upload so we can read the dates from it.
What you plan and make
Wishlist places, trips, itineraries, notes, polls and votes, comments, bills and splits, and the share cards you create. Photos you add to a trip album or a recap, and receipts you photograph to split.
Where you went
If you turn on trip recording, the app records your location while a trip is being recorded, using “while in use” location permission only. We use it to draw the map of where you went. Recording stops when you stop it or the trip ends. We never record location in the background outside a recording, and never when you have not started one.
Money
Payments for flights and stays are entered into a secure form run by our booking provider. Card numbers go directly to them and their payment processor. We do not see or store your card number.
If you link a bank account for savings, that link is made through Plaid. Plaid shares with us the account name, type, balance and transactions needed to run the savings features. We do not receive your bank login.
If you set up automatic transfers between your own accounts, that is run by a licensed transfer provider under their own terms, which we show you before you agree. Subscription purchases are handled by the App Store, Google Play or our web billing provider. We receive a record that you subscribed, not your payment details.
Booking a flight
Airlines require passenger details: full name, date of birth, gender, and the number, country and expiry of a passport or ID. We collect these only when you book a flight, pass them to the booking provider and airline, and keep them only as long as the booking needs them.
Searches
The places and destinations you type into search are sent to Google Places to find matches. We cache popular searches briefly on our servers so they are fast.
Diagnostics
If the app crashes or errors, a crash report goes to Sentry with device and app version details. We have turned off the setting that would attach your name, email or IP address to these reports.
What we do not collect
We have no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics SDK in the app. We do not read your contacts, calendar or health data. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
3. How we use it
To run the product: keep your account, show your trips, send your notifications, process your bookings and payments, and draw your maps.
To draft plans with AI. When you ask for an itinerary or a trip run-up, we send the destination, dates, group size, budget, your travel preferences, the wants you saved for that place, and ratings from trips you have recapped to Anthropic, whose model writes the draft. The model may also search the web for opening hours, prices and events on your dates. When you upload a leave-balance screenshot, the image is sent to the same provider to read the dates out of it. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
To personalise what we show you: the destinations, windows and suggestions you see are ranked from your wishlist, preferences and past trips. And to keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
4. Who else can see it
People on your trip
Everyone on a trip can see that trip's itinerary, polls, bills, album photos, and who is in or out on each plan. If you record a trip, the route is visible to people on that trip in the replay and recap. Group recaps show each person's ratings to the group.
Your friends
If you connect with friends in the app, they can see your upcoming trips and recap reels according to the privacy switches on your profile. Turn those switches off and they see neither.
Anyone you share with
Share cards and invite links are yours to send. A card carries what is drawn on it; an invite link lets whoever opens it join the trip. Cards marked “show on your friends' Explore” appear to your friends inside the app; switch that off and they do not.
Service providers
We use companies to run parts of the product. Each receives only what its job needs: Firebase (Google) for sign-in; Google Places for search and place photos; Anthropic for AI drafting, as described above; LiteAPI and its payment processor for flight and stay bookings; Plaid for bank linking, and a licensed transfer provider for automatic savings; RevenueCat, Apple and Google for subscriptions; Expo for push notifications; Sentry for crash reports; and Render and its infrastructure providers, where our servers and database run.
Partners
Some experiences link to Viator. When you follow one of those links you leave Days IRL, and Viator's own policy applies. The link tells Viator the visit came from us.
Legal
We will share data when the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy still applies.
5. How long we keep it
Your account and what you make in it: for as long as you have an account. Trip recordings: until you delete the trip or your account. Passenger details for a flight: until the booking is complete and any refund window has passed. Bank links: until you unlink the account or delete your account; we tell Plaid to remove the link when you do. Crash reports: 90 days. Cached searches: minutes.
When you delete your account, we delete your data from live systems within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax, fraud or legal reasons, which we keep only as long as those reasons require.
6. Your choices and rights
Delete your account from Settings in the app, or email privacy@daysirl.com. Turn off trip recording, friend visibility, and Explore sharing in the app at any time. Turn off push notifications in the app or in your phone's settings. Unlink a bank account from the savings screen.
Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing privacy@daysirl.com. We answer within 30 days. If you live in the European Economic Area, the UK, or a US state with a privacy law, these are legal rights; everywhere else we honour them anyway.
7. Security
Data travels encrypted in transit. Bank and identity fields are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you.
8. Children
Days IRL is not for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers run there and elsewhere. If you use Days IRL from outside the US, your data is transferred to and processed in the US under standard contractual safeguards.
10. Cookies on the web
app.daysirl.com uses the cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. There are no advertising cookies. The marketing site at daysirl.com may use a cookie for basic visit counts; it does not identify you.
11. Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
